Murmur is Verix's own shipping product: a macOS menu-bar dictation app. Hold a hotkey, speak the way you actually speak, release — and clean, finished writing lands at your cursor. It's the proof that we don't just build software for clients; we design, ship, and maintain our own.
The Challenge
What needed to change
Dictation tools transcribe exactly what you say — filler words, false starts, rambling included — leaving you to clean up the mess. And the people who'd benefit most are often the most skeptical of AI tools that ship their voice to the cloud. Murmur had to produce finished writing, not raw transcripts, and earn trust with a genuinely private offline mode.
Our Solution
Built around the business
We built the full product: a native Swift menu-bar app with streaming speech recognition, AI cleanup that turns spoken thoughts into polished text, app-aware writing profiles that match tone to where you're typing, and a fully offline mode powered by on-device transcription. Plus everything around it — auto-update pipeline, subscription tiers, and the marketing site at heymurmur.app.
